Annual Portfolio Meeting

On the 19th November, 2025, the EIC Clean and Efficient Cooling community joined at the Annual Portfolio Meeting, hosted in TU Delft (Netherlands). Interesting presentations related to the development status of the projects were carried out by the portfolio managers: prof. S. Mancin, prof. Luisa F. Cabeza, and Dr. E. Zanetti. CharCool contributed in the workshop meeting with a special session on Digital Twins, from prof. A. Arteconi, as invited speaker. It has been a pleasure to host and contribute with all the other EIC funded projects working together towards a sustainable cooling future in Europe!

CharCool at 4TunaTES

Last week, prof. Emanuela Mastronardo presented the CharCool project at the workshop “4TunaTES meets its brothers and sisters! – Creating synergy between EU-funded initiatives on thermal energy”.The event was held in Messina on October 23rd and hosted by the 4TunaTES consortium.Emanuela introduced CharCool’s vision for re-thinking clean through a thermally-driven chiller powered by bio-based thermochemical materials, and shared some recent advances in material selection, preparation and characterization.A thank-you to the 4TunaTES team for this great initiative and to all the other projects who joined the workshop!

CharCool at LTES Summer School

Recently, members of CharCool took part in the 5th International Summer School on Latent Thermal Energy Storage (LTES2025) in Lleida. The school was organized by Prof. Luisa F. Cabeza and Dr. Emiliano Borri (University of Lleida), with lectures also given by our team members Prof. Simone Mancin (University of Padova) and Prof. Kamel Hooman (TU Delft).Thermal energy storage is key to decarbonisation, and in CharCool we are working on a new way to use it for cleaner and more efficient cooling.

CharCool at BioChar day

Yesterday, the CharCool project was involved to partecipate as an innovative project utilizing biohcars. The overall day was focused on circular agriculture, renewable energy and innovative applications of biochar. The main topics on the panel were: biochar for agriculture and for the opposition of climate change, hydrogen production and sensors applications, technologies for water management, and biochar for biomedical applications. The event organized by BEST-Char was an opportunity for discussion of sustainable biochar materials.

CharCool at CLIMA 2025

Last week, our project coordinator Simone Mancin participated to the CLIMA World Congress in Milan, and had the pleasure of presenting CharCool as part of the EiC Cooling Portfolio. The EIC Cooling Portfolio brings together ten innovative projects funded by the EIC – European Innovation Council under the Pathfinder Challenge on Clean and Efficient Cooling. Its aim is to collaboratively improve scientific knowledge and technological development of clean and efficient cooling solutions. Thanks to Alfonso William Mauro for the co-organization of this interesting workshop with stakeholders, to all the other Pathfinder projects and to the EIC team: Paolo Bondavalli, Darina Botsova, Adelina Nicolaie and Johannes B.
